Bottom Line
A must-have for fans of Japanese RPGs |
"For a console that has seen some of the top games of this past generation, a game like Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 makes you wonder if the PS2 will ever truly die. Everything about this game is well made. The soundtrack is marvelous. The graphics are terrific. The story is told so well, it seems to push the edge of what can be done with a video game from the last generation.
My only true gripe about this game is the battle system. Having played truly unique battle systems in Japanese RPGs, like Tales of Symphonia and Grandia, can we finally say we've had enough of the menu-driven, turn-based, one-note battles? While the story and dialogue can drag at times, the actual action in a game, especially one this good, shouldn't feel like a chore.
But I digress. If you like RPGs and want to see the PS2's last stand before the next generation completely takes over, pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.
