Review
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

Pros

• Moral choices and different endings
• You can unlock and call on other Marvel heroes
• Greatly improved combat makes it easier to fight mid-air
• Upgrade system lets you focus on your fighting style
• Improved camera

Cons

• Enough with the symbiotes already
• Spidey's voice is AWFUL
• Camera can still go wonky at the worst time
• Disjointed story at the beginning

Bottom Line

Overall pretty good, but as usual with Spider-Man games, some things go up, some things go down.

Reviews

"Prince of Persia is often accused of being a "one step forward, one step back" series. I think that criticism is equally true of Spider-Man. That's not to say Web of Shadows is a bad game. In fact, several of my key gripes from Spider-Man 3 have been much improved: it's much easier to fight foes in mid-air, and the camera even behaves... for the most part. The story is much more interesting and darker than a typical Spider-Man game, and you even get choices that lead to multiple endings. However, the new voice of Spider-Man has got to go. If you thought Tobey Maguire was a whiny emo bitch Spider-Man 3, wait until you hear this wuss. I'm also not fond of the story's reliance on symbiotes, a plot device beaten to death. However, your ability to kick ass as Spidey is way better, plus there's a upgrades system that allows you to beef up the attacks you like. Add in some familiar Marvel faces, and thumbs up for Web of Shadows."
