Expected Release: Second/Third Quarter 1999
Finally, a game dedicated to the dangerous domain
of the Deathmatch. In the single player mode of Unreal
Tournament, players will be in control of a team of
bots. The battle is to the death. Fighting against
what will supposedly be the most advanced computer-controlled
bots that have ever been created, death may be the
only way out. There will be over 35 unique arenas
that will include graphically charged locales like
a mountain top castle, an ancient alien galleon and
high-speed trains.
In the past, it has been the multiplayer mode that
has been tacked onto single player games. With Unreal
Tournament, it is the other way around. The single
player game exists and will probably be lots of fun,
but this game is optimized for and all about networked
multiplay.
Online,
players will have a multitude of multiplayer modes
to chose from.
-Capture the flag (two teams two flags, no
rules)
-Assault (players break up into two teams,
one on the attack, the other defense. Under a time
limit the attacking team must infiltrate and destroy
a number of items in the defending teams base. Items
range from computer terminals, to hijacking a train.)
-Domination (This mode will be all about the
team with the most points wins. To score a point,
you or your team must take control of strategic spots
on the map called Control Panels. If the panel is
unoccupied you must stand on it for four seconds,
or, if it was previously occupied, for eight second,
before scoring a point. The team with the most points
scored at the end of the slaughter wins) Unreal Tournament
will also contain many new weapons and a batch of
new options that will interest the most seasoned of
Unreal enthusiasts.
