It seems you can’t beat paying taxes, even when you’re on the internet. Wisconsin has passed a 5% tax on all downloadable content purchased online. The new tax includes console-based services like the PSN and Xbox Live, digital delivery systems on the PC like Steam, and also includes downloaded movies, books and even ringtones. State officials believe the new tax will generate $10.9 million in revenues over the next two years. I wonder if they’ll accept Microsoft Points?

Speculation that the unannounced PSP 2 will lose the UMD disk drive has hit the net. More rumors about a platform that doesn’t even officially exist yet, this time coming from our old pal David Perry. On his twitter page, Dave wrote:
“I hear Sony finally has the PSP 2. And thank goodness, they've removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive. I'm excited!”
So are we, and Dave told EP that the news comes from one of his friends who’s actually working on the PSP 2. Dave also mentioned that all the discussion of the device shows the passion people have for the PSP. Sony on the other hand still hasn’t officially announced the PSP 2, and says it’s still committed to UMDs. Keep in mind, upcoming PSP titles like Rock Band, Assassin's Creed and LittleBigPlanet are all coming to the UMD format.

CBS has released a new free app for the iPhone that lets you download video feeds from their most popular shows, including the original Star Trek series. This means you can save room on you iPhone by not keeping your favorite Trek episodes stored on your internal memory anymore. Unfortunately, the app is only available on the American iTunes store, but we’ll let you know when Canadians can get their hands on it.

Of the issue, Xbox Live Program Manager for Policy and Enforcement Stephen Toulouse has told MTV News that, although Microsoft has no problem with gay users, the expression of relationship preference is not allowed, whether it’s heterosexual or other. Toulouse added that 95% of the time the word “gay” is meant as an insult. The Xbox Live terms of use explicitly forbid comments that hint at or relate to anything of a sexual nature.

The sequel will be a follow-up to the recent remake, which killed at the box office last month. Jason will be back of course, as will writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. It’s not clear if director Marcus Nispel, who also helmed the first Texas Chain Saw Massacre remake, will return for the sequel. The movie could be in theatres as early as next year, and will be the 13th Friday the 13th movie. Sounds lucky.
