School starts early

Good news for all you wizards and wizard fans. Hogwarts is opening a little earlier. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has another release date change, but this time it's been bumped up. The sixth Harry Potter movie will open two days earlier than previously advertised, and will now arrive on July 15th. The film had originally been slated for a winter 2008 release, but Warner Bros. decided to push it back and cash in on the lucrative summer blockbuster season. Keep in mind, if you don't feel like waiting for the movie, you can always read the book.

X-Pos 360

Microsoft has extended the warranty of the Xbox 360 to cover a new hardware glitch known as E 74, which causes the console to show the Grey Screen of Death. Oh, and I was so close to that next check point! The new warranty extension not only covers consoles diagnosed with the problem, it will also reimburse gamers who've already paid out of their own pocket to have the problem fixed. If you're unlucky enough to get E 74, or the good old Red Ring of Death for the third time, make sure you head over to xbox.com/support to give them a piece of your mind. Microsoft claims that only a small percentage of 360s develop the error.

Saints Row Exposed

THQ has delayed the first batch of Saints Row 2 DLC by a week. The Ultor Exposed add-on stars real life adult film star Tera Patrick (you may already be familiar with her body of work), and adds a horde of new missions and other goodies to the outrageous sandbox game. Originally slated for an April 16th release, gamers will get their digital hands on the new Saint's Row 2 content April 23rd. Two additional expansions are planned for later in the year.

Blu Busters

Details are finally coming in about the hotly anticipated Ghostbusters Blu-ray release. The new edition of the classic film has trapped an impressive list of brand new special features and other bonus content, including a documentary about the iconic Ecto-1 car from the film. The Blu-ray will also give a look at the making of Atari's new Ghostbusters video game, due out this summer. We can't wait to see some ghosts getting busted in 1080P, but unfortunately there's been no mention of Ghostbusters 2 arriving on the high def format. The Ghostbusters will be back, on Blu-ray, June 15th.

Fraking Right!

The Ghostbusters aren't the only ones coming to Blu-ray. Anyone up for a little Battlestar Galactica in high def? The Digital Bits reports that the upcoming DVD of the Caprica pilot episode features an insert add for Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series on both DVD and Blu-ray. Although no release date is given, a miniature Cylon warrior appears to be included with the set. The complete series is rumored to be out sometime later this year. Meanwhile, the Caprica pilot episode arrives on DVD April 21st.

Born on a Monday

Zombie supervillain Solomon Grundy will appear in the upcoming DC Universe Online, which borrows from DC's extensive library of characters. Grundy first appeared as an enemy of The Green Lantern, but has since matched fists with both Batman and Superman. He's incredibly resistant to damage, and regenerates after being hit. You'll be able to sandbox it up with him and all the other classic DC characters when DC Universe Online arrives next year. Here at EP, we can't help but wonder if any of the Watchmen characters will find their way into the game.

Covet This

It's a shooter, an RTS, and now a reference book. Publisher DK will release the Halo Encyclopedia, containing information from Halo 1 to 3, Halo Wars, and the upcoming expansion ODST. The book will boast 352 full color pages, and should look great on any gamer's coffee table. Look for the Halo Encyclopedia on a bookshelf near you this fall.
