Indiana Jones and the Internet Rumors

According to the prestigious Internet, the long awaited next-gen Indiana Jones title has been canned and the development team reassigned to other projects. LucasArts assures us that this is simply not true, telling Joystiq quote:

“LucasArts remains absolutely committed to the Indiana Jones franchise. While we are aware that fans have been eagerly awaiting additional information on the upcoming [Indiana Jones] game, they can rest assured that details are forthcoming.”

We haven’t seen anything new from the game since LucasArts debuted footage back at E3 2006, but the same physics engine was used in The Force Unleashed and despite the rumors, the game still appears to be on track.

PS3 Price Drop

If you’re thinking of buying a PS3, you might want to wait a few months. Given all the recent financial strife at Sony, industry analysts are predicting an imminent price drop for the PlayStation 3. According to Michael Pachter, a leading analyst from Wedbush Morgan, Sony could cut the price of the PS3 as early as April to increase demand for the console. Pachter also expects the 360 to come down in price this year, so anyone thinking of picking up a new game system might want to holdout a little while longer.

Born in Guitar Hero

Bruce Springsteen will make his Guitar Hero World Tour debut on January 27th. Two Springsteen tunes, the classic “Born To Run” and “My Lucky Day” off his new album, will both be available for free, because we all know how much Activision hates money. The tracks will only be free for the first week though, so you’ll have to get ‘em fast.

Macshock

First we saw a PS3 port, and now it looks like BioShock is coming to the Mac. At CES last week, publisher Feral Interactive, which specializes in licensing and porting PC games to the Mac, announced that their latest project would be none other than the underwater FPS BioShock. No word on if the Mac port will come with extra content like the PS3 version did, but it is expected to arrive in the first half of this year. Given that BioShock has now been released on pretty much everything, it’s a good bet that BioShock 2: Sea Of Dreams will hit all the different platforms at launch. No word yet on a Wii version though.

End of an Age

Funcom have announced that all but 18 of the 49 servers currently running Age Of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will be shut down. The game launched last summer to rave reviews and a large number of subscriptions, but the early success of the game was fleeting and interest has dropped considerably since then. This isn’t good news for fans of the game, and it remains to be seen what the future has in store for Age Of Conan. Lets hope it doesn’t go the way of Tabula Rasa, which closes down completely next month.

Targets for Termination

Famed film composer Danny Elfman is doing the score for Terminator: Salvation. Of the score, Elfman told MTV quote:

“I never really know what to expect when I begin other than just kind of get into it and have fun. Especially a movie like T4 – just have fun. So that’s what I intend to do.”

For those of us who cant wait for the movie to hit theaters this summer, check out the Terminator Salvation: Sand In The Gears comic series, which hits store shelves today. From IDW publishing, the four-issue comic acts as a prequel to the film, and should be worth a look for any Terminator fan.

Still Alive?

Aaron Eckhart now says that Two-Face might not have actually died at the end of The Dark Knight. In an interview with MTV, Harvey Dent himself said quote “I think Harvey - if he's not dead - is in a serious coma and I'm not sure he's coming out. They might pull the plug on him.” That doesn’t sound good for the character, but that’s better than the affirmative “he’s dead” that we got a few months back. The ending of The Dark Knight was somewhat ambiguous as to whether or not Harvey Dent actually died, so it’s not impossible for him to return, just unlikely. This is assuming a follow-up actually does happen, keep in mind that Director Christopher Nolan has said he’s not sure if it will.

Spider-Man vs Evil Dead

In an interview with Empire magazine, director Sam Raimi talked about what bad guys we can expect to see in Spider-Man 4:

“I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius... He's really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.”

You know, here at EP we can’t help but notice the resemblance between Morbius and the deadites from Raimi’s classic masterpiece, The Evil Dead. Spider-Man mixed with classic video-nasty goodness would be a winning combination in our books.
