Assassin's Creed 2 is finally starting to emerge from the shadows. This week's issue of Game Informer magazine has the first glimpse of the sequel's knife-wielding protagonist. In keeping with rumors, the new main character will be called Ezio, and he'll be slicing up bad guys in Renaissance-era Venice. We can't wait to see what surprises our friends at Ubisoft Montreal have in store for this one. Assassin's Creed 2 should be out early next year.

The writer of the Shadow Of The Colossus movie is asking gamers to give him the benefit of the doubt. Despite the fact that previous video game adaptations like Max Payne and Postal have mostly meet with poor reception, screenwriter Justin Marks is optimistic about the upcoming Shadow Of The Colossus movie. Speaking with Risky Biz Blog, Marks promises to approach the script from an adult perspective and also make the film accessible to a wide audience. Additionally, the writer claims that most movies based on video games don't work because the studios keep choosing the wrong games, and that Colossus should be easier to adapt because the game leaves so much room to build. Shadow Of The Colossus is currently under development at Sony Pictures? Justin Marks also wrote Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li.

Apparently Robert Rodriquez started talking to Jolie way back in 2006 about the role. Sin City 2 is expected to begin shooting later this year, and we'll keep an eye out for more on this one.

One of the Watchmen screenwriters is taking on another graphic novel. Alex Tse will write the big screen version of Battling Boy. Created by Paul Pope, the comic is expected for release this Spring. No word on who else will be involved with the film, but if it's half as good as Watchmen, count me in.

Nice going, movie pirates. You've hurt Wolverine's feelings. Hugh Jackman says he's heartbroken that an unfinished print of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was leaked onto the Internet. Jackman compares watching the unfinished film to driving a Ferrari without a paintjob, and calls it a very disappointing and serious crime. X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be out officially on May 1st.

There's going to be a doctor in the house at GDC Canada. Actually, there will be two. BioWare founders Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk will deliver the day two keynote at the inaugural edition of GDC Canada, but not before Microsoft's Don Mattrick and some guy named Victor Lucas give the first keynote. GDC Canada will go down at the Vancouver Convention Centre May 12th to 13th.
