Two of the longest-running sci-fi franchises of all time are coming together, and it’s not the result of a freak transporter accident.

Publisher IDW has announced Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2, a crossover comic that will see the newest version of the shape-shifting, time-traveling doctor join forces with the crew of the USS Enterprise D. They’ll need to save the galaxy from destruction at the hands of the villainous Borg and Cybermen, who’ve also joined forces.

The series is being written by Scott and David Tiptonthe, who penned another Trek crossover series, Star Trek: Infestation. Longtime Doctor Who writer Tony Lee is also helping to shape the story, and the books will feature artwork by Fallen Angel artist J.K. Woodward.

Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 will run for eight issues, and the first is set to hit shelves this May.
