Konami has announced that Metal Gear Online, the multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid 4, will shut down on June 12. The game has been around for four years, but was never as popular as the franchise’s single-player offerings.
It remains to be seen if future Metal Gear titles will include a multiplayer component. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will sneak onto consoles later this year, and Metal Gear Solid 5 is rumoured to be targeting a 2014 release window.
